Biography
I love to teach, and have been teaching since 1996. I grew up in Pinckney on Portage Lake, graduated from Pinckney High School in 1990, and in 2002 I made the choice to raise my family here so we bought a house on Cordley Lake.
I am married and have two sons; one is a sophomore here at PHS, and the other one is a senior. My husband teaches at Dexter Mill Creek middle school. We spend a lot of time in the summer boating, swimming and fishing on the chain of lakes, and going to our beach on Cordley Lake. I am a novice ukulele player, and I LOVE to read psychological thrillers and scrapbook in my spare time.
I earned my undergrad degree at EMU with a double major in Speech Communications and Drama/Theatre for the Young and a minor in English. I then earned my Master's degree in 2005 in Communications. I am very excited to begin this school year teaching 9th grade English!

Absent Work
When you return to class, check the agenda online to see what you missed. Worksheets can be found in the hanging file on the side counter. Absent work must be turned in within 5 school days, or as many days as you were absent, whichever is less, in order for it to be counted as on-time. Late Work Work turned in after it is due is considered late. Late work is marked 'late' in the grade book with a 50% deduction in points. Any work turned in after the summative unit test is taken will be accepted for 1 point only (this removes it from the missing assignment list on MiStar). Test Retakes If you scored below 80% on an assessment, you may retake the test, or redo the assessment. However, ALL formative practice MUST be done first (in other words, you may not have any missing assignments from that unit). Additionally, the final grade on the retake will not be any higher than 80% (regardless if you score higher). Retakes are given after school only, on an agreed upon day. |
